Training Units
The Training Units for Office 2000 are designed to take you from absolute beginner to expert
in a range of widely used computer applications.
To see a sample page, which
will give you an example of the layout and structure of each
unit, click on the files in the Sample PDF file column
below. Each file will open in a new window. Please close the
window to return to this page.
Units are available individually
for free download now. Click on the links below. To save
them to your computer, right click and choose "Save Target As".
Adobe Acrobat Reader version
4 or later is required to view the modules. This free program can be downloaded from the
ICTeachers
website. The modules are best viewed with a minimum screen resolution of 800x600 pixels
and cannot be printed.
First time users should view the
Adobe Guide and
Reader pages. They will show you
how to navigate your way through the modules.
Users should realize that PDF files can
take a long time to load, so please be patient if the screen goes blank during the
loading process.
Drisconsult's School Management Information System
SMIS is a relatively new
venture. I hope this program will be of
some benefit to you, whether you are using it for a single subject only, or running an
entire school. If you discover any bugs, please let me know, my email address is on the
program. It has been written in Access 2000 with a minimum of VBA. This will enable you to
make changes, as when you feel that a change is necessary.
As far as equipment is concerned, you will need at least 128 MB of ram to run this
program, anything lower will slow it down considerably. When closing down, the program
will compact, that is, Access will delete any temporary files that you would have created
during that session. You will see this feature running at the bottom left-hand corner of
your screen.
To use the demonstration version, classes have been named 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A. To use
the search feature, you only need to enter a number such as 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Use 1A for an
examination entry demonstration to KS3. Use 5A for a GCSE demonstration. If you wish to
use the program after looking at the demonstration version, use the Delete Menu and delete
all data in the program, it will then be ready for your use.
To enable the correct printing sizes, you will see small command buttons on the relative
form. If your Office installation has not been installed for a paper size of A4 (and many
are not), you will have to take care here. You will observe that there are small pop-up
buttons attached to the Print Menus to inform you of paper sizes and settings. There is a
guide to using the SMIS program available at the ICTeachers website. It is about 5.5 MB in
size; you will need Winzip and Acrobat Reader 4 or higher to prepare it for use.
Finally, any comments as to the usefulness of this program will be greatly appreciated. If
you require any extra features, please let me know and I will try and accommodate your
requests. As yet, there is no A level feature, if you require this feature,
please let me know.
